Desmodium supports liver function.
Pharmacological studies have shown hepatoprotective activity, particularly on transaminases. According to some studies, Desmodium works by reducing transaminase and bilirubin levels and, in cases of liver disease, prevents the progression to chronicity.
This characteristic makes this vegetable a useful remedy in the case of chronic degenerative diseases such as cirrhosis and hepatitis, mainly of types A and B.
Also at the liver level, it effectively promotes the regeneration of tissue damaged by toxic substances, poisons or the abuse of chemical drugs.
In fact, all toxic hepatitis, even severe ones, respond perfectly to Desmodium, regardless of the etiology.
Very useful in preventing side effects due to chemotherapy and during it as a protector.
Even in the presence of already evident liver damage, Desmodium has been shown to lead to significant improvements in clinical and biological parameters, as it acts by stimulating the regeneration of liver cells, although prevention remains the most effective choice.
Recent research has also brought to light other important potentials of this plant: its leaves and stems possess hypoallergenic properties, effective especially in the treatment of asthma and allergies affecting the bronchi, but not only.
Topical use has also proven useful as a soothing agent against itching (antihistaminic action).
The high content of flavonoids, polyphenolic compounds, and anthocyanins enhances the therapeutic power of Desmodium, also giving it notable antioxidant and anti-radical effects, which we know play a vital role in preventing the progression of oxidative stress and promoting good overall health.
